The Doraemon exhibition will feature the works of 28 Japanese artists

According to a press release on Saturday, September 3, the “Doraemon Exhibition Singapore 2022” will feature works by 28 contemporary Japanese artists.

The artwork will place the titular character and his friends in our changing world while showcasing the impact they have had on modern history.

While it’s still unclear which artworks will make their way, Doraemon’s past exhibits in Japan might hint at what’s to come.

This large mosaic painting by Takashi Murakami, for example, is so lively with floral motifs that it will start our visit on a high note.

Seeing characters grow up too would surely evoke nostalgia for longtime fans who would do a double take if they saw this portrait of Satomi Kondo, from Shizuka-Chan as an adult.

Worshiping anything can be a spiritual affair for some, which is why Miran Fukuda’s acrylic artwork, ‘Hermits on the waves‘, incorporating Taoist elements, would be a sight to behold.

Of course, nothing beats the idea that your favorite anime might exist in real life. Mika Ninagawa’s photographic installation allows visitors to imagine that the photos document the adventures Doraemon apparently takes with a human companion.
