The National Museum is the first museum in the Sultanate of Oman that includes a learning center, equipped to the highest international standards.

Muscat: As part of the support of Art and Culture, the National Museum, represented by the Center for Learning, on Tuesday opened the exhibition “Beyond Form” by artist Reem Al Shaikh.

The exhibition will be open to all visitors from yesterday until March 31, 2022.

In this photographic series, the artist has used a special imaging technique to produce images contrary to what is usual in photographic techniques; an image that is not clear and the edges are blurred.

This unique photography technique involves manipulating the time period to capture the scene in the camera and waiting for the movement of the body as it moves out of frame with each unpredictable or repetitive movement.

This technique inspires Reem’s imagination to record the shot and erase the clear body frames to remove the boundaries of the human body; allowing the creation of the form. The artist created this form of art to transcend societal norms and rules, and to get out of his reality and travel to another world of his imagination.

The artist specializes in the art of abstract painting, where his work deals with societal identity and traditions.

The National Museum is the first museum in the Sultanate of Oman that includes a learning center, equipped to the highest international standards.

The center offers various educational programs aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of Omani cultural heritage, thereby creating more interest among all categories of visitors in Oman’s ancient history.
