After the COVID-19 pandemic forced the National Cheer Association College Nationals 2020 to cancel, Weber’s state cheering team was forced to see its dominance take a hiatus. This year, the Wildcats won their fourth consecutive major national championship while reaching new heights.
The WSU has grown into a dynasty in its cheers division, and the team and its members are a heavyweight to be reckoned with.
When the Wildcats traveled to Daytona Beach, Florida for the 2021 NCA College Nationals, there was no doubt all eyes would be on them in the Advanced Large Coed I division.
WSU turned that attention into a climb as they exceeded high expectations and went down in history with a score of 98.5708, the highest mark in program history.
Not only were the ‘Cats able to establish a new high schedule, but they also posted the highest score of any team in all divisions and were crowned National Grand Champions.
Weber State Dance will also bring home a national championship to Ogden after placing first in the Hip Hop Division I final, posting a score of 94.115.
The WSU also took home national championship honors with Elsa Hassett and Kollin Cockrell winning a national title in partner cascade. Cockrell is now twice after winning him back in 2019 as well.
